What's Included
What Our Fireplace Installation Includes
Every new fireplace starts with a site check of the floor structure, roof line and clearances. From there we build the complete system, not just the face you see in the room.
Footing and Foundation
A reinforced concrete footing carries the weight of the firebox and chimney without settling or cracking.
Firebox and Hearth
A firebrick lining and a properly sized hearth protect the surrounding floor and walls from radiant heat.
Damper and Smoke Chamber
A correctly set damper and a smooth smoke chamber pull smoke up the flue instead of into your room.
Flue and Chimney
Flue size and chimney height are matched to the firebox opening so the fireplace drafts steadily.
Brick or Stone Finish
Choose brick, natural stone or stone veneer, with mortar color matched to your home.
Chimney Cap and Flashing
A sloped concrete cap and tight flashing keep rain and snowmelt out of the chimney.
Design
Custom Brick and Stone Fireplace Design
Every home is different, so a masonry fireplace is planned around the room it will serve. We talk through where the fireplace sits, how large the opening should be and which materials suit the style of your house. Traditional red brick, fieldstone and cut stone all work well, and each one changes how the room feels.
Proportion matters as much as material. A firebox that is too large for the room throws too much heat, while one that is too small never feels right. We size the opening, hearth and mantle area together so the finished fireplace looks natural and burns cleanly.
Built to Code
Fireplace Construction to Utah Code
Safe fireplaces depend on details that disappear once the wall is finished. Footings, clearances to combustible framing, hearth extension, damper, flue size and chimney height all affect how the fireplace drafts and how safely it burns. We build each of these to Utah code and check the work before any finish goes on.
Permit rules differ from city to city, and new masonry fireplaces usually need one. We confirm the requirements for your address before work begins, which keeps the project clear for inspections and avoids surprises when you sell or insure the home.
Materials
Brick, Stone and Mortar That Last
Utah winters are hard on masonry, so material choices matter. We use firebrick inside the firebox, durable brick or natural stone outside, and mortar matched to the strength of the masonry around it. Mortar that is harder than the brick can crack the brick faces over time, so we match both strength and color.
When your home already has brick or stone, we match the new fireplace to the existing work. Size, color, texture and joint style are checked before building so the new masonry blends in instead of standing out.
Cost
What Affects the Cost of a New Fireplace
Every fireplace is priced to the job. The biggest factors are the size of the opening, the choice of brick, stone or veneer, the height of the chimney and how easy it is to reach the work area. A stone hearth or a taller chimney changes the scope as well.
After the site visit you receive a written price listing materials and labor, with options where more than one approach works. You decide at your own pace, and the estimate itself is always free.
Care and Upkeep
Caring for Your New Fireplace
A new masonry fireplace needs a gentle start. Fresh mortar and firebrick should be broken in with small fires before you burn at full strength, which lets the masonry dry evenly. We explain the process at the final walkthrough so you know exactly what to do.
Long-term care is simple. Have the flue and firebox inspected once a year before burning season, keep the chimney cap clear of debris, and call us if you notice smoke entering the room or loose mortar joints.
